Recycling event to benefit Lahainaluna High School
LAHAINA — In partnership with the new Hammerhead Metals Recycling facility and Lahaina Cannery Mall, Community Work Day Program will hold a recycling event to benefit Lahainaluna High School.
Similar recycling events will be held in locations across Maui in the coming year.
On Saturday, Feb. 26, between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Lahaina Cannery Mall, recycling agencies will be on hand to accept scrap metal, bicycles, appliances, beverage containers, cooking oil, cellular phones, printer cartridges, newspaper, cardboard, telephone books, magazines, plastic bags, used eyeglasses, hearing aids, batteries of all types, computers, printers, e-waste, books, green waste, usable paint, clothing and household items. Staff will not accept tires, motor oil or hazardous fluids.
Free shredding of confidential documents will be offered from 8 to 11 a.m. with a limit of two banker’s boxes.
Proceeds from all recyclable items with a recovery value will be donated to Lahainaluna High School. Participants are encouraged to bring a nonperishable donation for the Maui Food Bank.
