DLNR chief to speak at Sierra Club annual meeting
SPRECKLESVILLE — The public is invited to hear William Aila, head of the state Department of Land & Natural Resources, speak at the Maui Sierra Club annual meeting on Sunday, Feb. 13, at 11 a.m. at the Kaunoa Senior Center in Sprecklesville.
During the meeting, Lee Altenberg will receive the club’s Onipa’a Award, given for long-term outstanding service to the environment; Aila will receive the Malama ‘Aina Award; Mike Molina will receive the Legislative Achievement Award; and Jay April will receive the Free Speech in Support of the Environment Award.
Legislators have been invited to update attendees on environmental bills at the meeting.
The meeting includes a potluck lunch; the public is urged to attend whether they are able to bring a dish or not. The Sierra Club will have T-shirts, bumper stickers and information available. Those interested in joining the Sierra Club may sign up.
