West Maui and Haleakala Lions met in Lahaina on Dec. 23.

LAHAINA — The West Maui Lions Club recently welcomed seven new members: Veronica Miller, Carmelita Oleiwan, Amina Oleiwan, Virgie Baybado, Warren Baybado, Gary Minter and Rhonda Minter.

West Maui and Haleakala Lions met at Lulu’s Lahaina Surf Club & Grill on Dec. 23.

Lions Zone Chair Mark Mizuno led the induction ceremony and spoke on the Hawaii Lions Foundation and Makana Eye Bank.

He stated that the foundation has helped many people with cornea transplants and various projects through the grant-in-aid program.

The eye bank now has a permanent location in Honolulu that it will occupy for the next 50 years.

West Maui Lions meet on the fourth Thursday of the month at Lulu’s Lahaina Surf Club & Grill in Lahaina Cannery Mall at 6 p.m.
