West Side churches to hold Christmas services

WEST MAUI — A free Christmas Eve candlelight service will be held Friday night at 9:30 p.m. outside at Kaanapali Beach Hotel’s Garden Chapel by the Sea.

The hour-long nondenominational service is being hosted by The Living Ministry with praise and worship.

An official Hawaiian opening will be offered by Pastor Laki Pomaikai Ka’ahumanu. The service will also feature appearances by Kalei Jaramillo and Mary Lynne Boland singing the evening’s theme song, “In The Name Of The Lord.”

The Christmas message will be delivered by Rev. Beverly Powers. The hotel is offering discounted self-parking for the evening service. All are welcome. For more information, call Kaanapali Beach Hotel at 661-0011 or Rev. Powers at 669-4400.

Kumulani Chapel in Kapalua will hold Christmas Eve Family Candlelight Services at 5 and 7 p.m. featuring a keiki skit, Christmas carols and inspirational message. A Candlelight Service at 11 p.m. will also feature Christmas carols. The chapel is located along Office Road across from Sansei Seafood Restaurant and Sushi Bar. Lahaina Baptist Church at the corner of Shaw Street and Honoapiilani Highway will celebrate their Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. The church choir will perform the cantata “Forever Gloria,” and there will be hula and singing. Maria Lanakila Catholic Church at 712 Wainee St. in Lahaina will hold a Christmas Eve mass at 6 p.m. (Vigil Mass), Christmas Carols at 11:30 p.m. and Midnight Mass.

On Christmas Day, masses are slated for 7, 9 and 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. (Anticipatory Mass for Sunday). The schedule for Sunday is 7, 8:30 and 10 a.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. (Misa Espanol).

At Maria Lanakila’s Sacred Hearts Mission on Office Road near the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, a Christmas Eve Vigil Mass will be held at 6 p.m., and Christmas Day masses are scheduled for 7 and 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. (Anticipatory Mass for Sunday).
