Gardens giving away Hawaiian trees
KAHULUI — Maui Nui Botanical Gardens will host its annual “Arbor Day 1,000 Hawaiian Tree Giveaway” on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. to noon at the 150 Kanaloa St. gardens.
Maui Nui Botanical Gardens is partnering with Maui Electric Co., Kaulunani and the county Department of Water Supply to give away 1,000 Hawaiian trees free to anyone willing and able to care for them!
There will be an impressive selection of more than 30 native and Polynesian-introduced trees to be given away (one plant per person, any age).
Event booths will feature information about tree selection, proper planting, pruning, mulching, pest identification and watering techniques for native trees.
Set a day aside this year to plant a Native Hawaiian tree and create a living legacy. Call 249-2797, e-mail info@mnbg.org or visit www.mnbg.org.
