By Staff | Oct 14, 2010

KAHULUI — The state Department of Transportation (DOT) invites the general public and all interested parties to a public informational meeting regarding the Kahului Airport Master Plan Update and Noise Compatibility Program.

This is the first of three meetings scheduled on Maui to provide information and solicit public input.

The first meeting will be held at the University of Hawaii Maui College, Pilina Building, Multipurpose Room on Wednesday, Oct. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The purpose of the Kahului Airport Master Plan Update is to assess the capacity of existing facilities and to determine if the existing facilities are adequate to meet projected future demands.

“These meetings are vital opportunities for the public to help guide the future development of Kahului Airport,” said Michael Formby, state DOT interim director.

“Public input is crucial in developing a long-term plan that will successfully continue to meet the needs of the community.”
