Chamber to hold meetings on signage issue

The Maui Chamber of Commerce will host meetings to discuss county signage regulations and enforcement.
Open to the public, meetings are slated for 6 to 7:30 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 7, at The Westin Maui Resort & Spa’s Pequod Room; Tuesday, Oct. 12, in the Grand Wailea Resort & Spa’s Hibiscus Room; and Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Hali’imaile Community Center.

According to the chamber, “We have scheduled to meet at different locations throughout Maui to better accommodate and inform businesses about this issue and work on winning solutions.
“This is an important issue that affects all businesses in Maui County. While recent enforcement efforts have mainly been in Kahului and Wailuku, the signage law applies to all businesses.
“The (County Council’s) Planning Committee met this week and made changes to a draft ordinance to help, and understands that we will be sharing additional information after broader public input is received through these meetings.”
