On Sunday, Oct. 3, at 1 p.m. at Kahekili Beach Park, Earl Kukahiko will conduct a Hawaiian blessing for the new Reef Etiquette sign at the park. LAHAINA — Lahaina Restoration Foundation’s online auction — the newest trend in nonprofit fund-raising — will open on Oct. 1 and run through Oct. 17 to benefit the restoration of the Pioneer Mill Company Smokestack.

The foundation currently seeks donations from businesses interested in participating.

A recent online auction in Kona received 40 percent of its winning bids from the Mainland and another 30 percent from off-island.

According to Lahaina Restoration Foundation (LRF), this is a great benefit to businesses that donate items, as their online donation will be linked to their website that can be viewed by all visitors to the auction site.

LRF seeks a variety of items for the online auction, from car repairs to haircuts, and restaurant coupons to hotel stays.

A preview of the auction site can be viewed at www.lahainarestoration.org For more information, or to make a donation, call Lahaina Restoration Foundation at 661-3262.
