KAANAPALI — A REEF Field Survey will be held on Sunday, July 25, at Kahekili Beach Park.

Meet at the park at 9 a.m. and bring dive/snorkel gear and a buddy. Loaner materials will be provided.

The group may also test out surveys and outreach approaches for the Kaanapali Makai Watch program.

Participating in community-based reef monitoring gives community members an opportunity to become part of the scientific process and allows them to play a role in providing researchers, marine resource managers and policy makers with valuable information needed to make decisions regarding Maui’s marine resources.

In addition, these efforts also promote awareness and stewardship of Hawaii’s coral reef ecosystem.
