By Staff | Jul 15, 2010

LAHAINA — Lahaina News Columnist Norm Bezane, author of the new book “Voices of Maui: Natives and Newcomers,” will hold a second book signing from 10 to about 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 17, at CJ’s Deli at the Fairway Shops in Kaanapali.

Pre-signed copies are available at Joan McKelvey’s South Seas shop at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa, Baldwin Home Museum on Front Street, MauiGrown Coffee store by the Pioneer Mill smokestack and the Maui Breeze shop in the Kaanapali Beach Hotel lobby.

Described by a respected cultural advisor as “a book representing a time in history that will be studied by students of Lahaina history,” the book includes sections on “Hawaiians and Their Culture;” “Entertainers, Entrepreneurs, and Colorful Characters;” community “Movers and Shakers;” “Quality of Life;” and “Island Discovers and Usurpers.”

Rain spoiled a first outdoor book signing, but Kahu David Kapaku, featured in the book, said an accompanying rainbow “was a good omen.”
