Tides Foundation provides funding for Maui Food Web

By Staff | Jun 10, 2010

WAILUKU — The Maui Food Web, a new project of Maui Tomorrow Foundation, received a grant of $10,000 from the Arimathea Fund of the Tides Foundation to create and maintain an interactive, web-based community action and engagement site to promote and increase viable agricultural efforts on Maui and improve food security for the community.

The county’s Maui Island Plan has a goal of 70 percent of Maui’s foods to be locally grown by 2030. The Maui Food Web is a tool that will help achieve that goal by providing access to information and resources to increase the amount of food and other useful crops locally grown and distributed on Maui, the foundation reported.

The Maui Food Web can be found online at www.mauifoodweb.com. For more information on this project or other issues, call 244-7570 or visit www.maui-tomorrow.org.
