Music classes set

KIHEI — The 2010 Maui Invitational Band Festival, featuring instrumental workshops, classes and community concerts, will be held throughout June and July.
All workshops and classes are open to music lovers of all ages separated by skill level only.
Produced by Arts Education for Children Group (AECG), the 2010 lineup offers a diverse mix of musical genres, including classical, blues and jazz.
First up from June 3 to July 4 are free weekly symphonic band workshops with The Maui Community Band. Woodwind, brass and percussion players of all ages and of intermediate to advanced levels are invited to attend.
Original works composed for the festival will be featured in a program performed by the band in a concert at Queen Ka‘ahumanu Shopping Center on July 1 and at Lahaina’s Fourth of July celebration.
Rehearsals will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. every Thursday at a Central Maui location. For information, call Lisa Owen at 572-6247.
