‘Cop on Top’ supports Special Olympics

By Staff | Apr 29, 2010

Maui residents will have another reason to look up to local law enforcement, as volunteer officers statewide participate in Special Olympics Hawaii’s “Cop on Top” campaign at Safeway stores statewide from April 29 to May 1.

For three days, local law enforcement officers will spend their off-duty time perched atop 14-foot scaffolding at various Safeway stores to drive funds and awareness for Hawaii’s Special Olympics athletes.

Officers will climb the scaffolding at 6 a.m. on April 29 and not return to the ground until 2 p.m. on May 1.

Last year’s “Cop on Top” event raised $210,000. Call (808) 943-8808 or visit www.specialolympicshawaii.org.
