PUKALANI — Somos Amigos Nicaragua, a local nonprofit that is building schools in rural northwestern Nicaragua, will be the beneficiary of a yard sale on Saturday, April 17, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 69 Ulunui Place in Pukalani (two streets above the Foodland Pukalani center). 

The all-volunteer organization is headed by a retired couple from Pukalani, Charlotte and Dan Flavin. 

The Flavins will also give a free slide-talk at University of Hawaii Maui College on Friday, April 23, in Ka Lama 103 at 7 p.m. about their work in Nicaragua. 

Volunteers from Maui who have accompanied them will also attend to share their experiences and Nicaraguan music and culture.
