Maui stepping up to save babies
WAILUKU — March for Babies will be held on Sunday, April 18, at 7:30 a.m. at the Maui War Memorial Gym.
March for Babies supports the March of Dimes’ fight to save babies from premature birth — the leading killer of newborns — and from other serious threats to infant health.
“The babies in Maui need our help,” said Shannon Robinson, Maui March of Dimes board president. “By being a part of March for Babies, we can help save babies and give hope to families. We can help give all babies the gift of a healthy start.”
The March for Babies on Maui will be a memorable and exciting day for the whole family. There will be over 20 companies and many family teams walking.
The event will include free food, drinks, entertainment and prizes. The March of Dimes Ambassador Family, Darrett Schoeppner and Lara Bellini, will be walking with their team and their baby, Chance Keali‘i Schoeppner, who was born at 25 weeks gestation and weighed only one pound, nine ounces. Chance spent 101 days in the hospital, and now, thanks to the March of Dimes, is a healthy baby boy.
