Lahainaluna Junior Prom slated for Saturday

The prom will begin with the coronation of Queen Sharon Hashimura and King Sousiua Ika.

LAHAINA – The Lahainaluna High School Junior Promenade will be held Saturday, March 27, at The Westin Maui Resort and Spa’s Valley Isle Ballroom.

The formal evening event will include dinner, dancing and souvenir photo sessions.

The formal coronation ceremony is open to the public; standing room only space is limited. Reserved seats are for special guests with tickets. Hotel parking is not available, and guests will need to park at the Whalers Village complex.

Doors open at 5:45 p.m., and the ceremony is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m.; aloha or evening attire is requested.

The ceremony will commence with the coronation of Queen Sharon Hashimura and King Sousiua Ika. Sharon is the daughter of Jeffrey and Simonette Hashimura of Lahaina, and Sousiua is the son of Sitaleki and Valeti Ika of Lahaina.

The princesses are Heather Azcueta, Tricia Bonifacio, Emalee Cabading, Shaylyn Cordova, Dalena Duong, Erika Erickson, Cherise Milanio and Janal Pagdilao-Bala.

The princes are David Arcangel, Kaimana Ah Loy-Borge, Justin Balingit, K. Jay Dela Cruz, Daven Kaina, Jeremy Lagare, Teanu Rickard and Ralph Sumida.

The prom theme is "Tonight’s Memory… Tomorrow’s Dream," "You Belong With Me" by Taylor Swift was selected as the prom song, and the event’s colors are black and white with midnight blue.

Tyler Tuipulotu and Cabading are general co-chairs for the event. Cordova is junior class president.

The class advisor is Kulani Akahi with assistance from Tracy Poouahi. Art Fillazar, student activities coordinator, is the director of the coronation ceremony and the prom court choreographer.
