Volunteers to clean up Kahului Harbor
KAHULUI — The Kokua Hawaii Foundation and Community Work Day Program are looking for volunteers to help clean up Kahului Harbor, covering the area from the harbor to Waiehu Beach, on Saturday Feb. 13.
Volunteers will meet at the Kahului Harbor Park at 8 a.m. to receive instructions, pick up supplies and register. The cleanup will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon and include the beach, park and harbor areas.
All volunteers who participate for two or more hours will receive an access code that they can use online via the STAR 101.9 website to purchase pre-sale tickets for the Kokua Festival on April 23-24, 2010 on Oahu. Volunteers will also be eligible to enter a raffle for free tickets to the Kokua Festival and other prize giveaways.
Matt Lane is organizing the cleanup with support from Community Work Day Program (CWD) and Maui Time Weekly newspaper.
Bags, gloves, food and water will be provided. The Water Store in Kahului will support the cleanup with water refill stations for volunteers. It is recommended that volunteers bring reusable water bottles and work gloves. Call Lane at 357-0920 or CWD at 877-2524.
