NAPILI — Sean Redmond O’Hanlon, a senior at Maui Preparatory Academy, was awarded his Eagle Scout rank on Jan. 2nd.

The son of Daniel and Joyce O’Hanlon of Napili serves as senior patrol leader of Troop 25.

Sean completed his Eagle Project in November, which involved the purchase, permitting and construction of a 35-foot flag pole at Maui Preparatory Academy.

He handled the tedious process of construction permitting, organized fund-raisers and worked during the construction of the flag pole.

Funding for the project was raised through car washes and Christmas tree recycling.

With the help of Pitzer Built Construction, Atom Kasprzcki, the Maui Prep ‘Ohana and Lahaina community, Sean was able to raise over $2,500 for the cost of the flag pole.

Sean has been involved in Boy Scouts since the second grade. He earned the Arrow of Light, the highest award achievable in Cub Scouts, and has now earned the highest rank in Boy Scouts: Eagle Scout.
