Learn about Reiki

Abbey
LAHAINA — On Saturday, Jan. 9, at 2 p.m., the community is invited to learn about Reiki Natural Healing at an introduction and demonstration at Barnes & Noble in Lahaina Gateway.
In Shalandra Abbey’s new book, “Living a Life of Reiki,” she explains how Reiki was first practiced in the Western World on Kauai in 1936, and how it was used in the islands before spreading to the rest of the world.
Abbey has been providing Reiki treatments and training full-time in Hawaii and around the globe for the past 20 years. She said it is for everyone who wants to live a healthier, happier life.
Frequently called “Energy Medicine,” Reiki is used by individual practitioners, as well as doctors and nurses, in hospitals and other healthcare facilities across the country, including the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs.
On Tuesday, Jan. 12, at 9 a.m., the community is also invited to attend a Reiki demonstration and book signing at a ‘Ohana Connection meeting at Hale Maha‘olu Elima at 11 Maha‘olu St. in Kahului. The suggested donation is $10, which includes breakfast. For information, call Charlie at 871-1110.
And on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 16-17, from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m., Abbey will offer a First-Degree Reiki training session in Maui Meadows. For more information and online registration, visit www.ReikiMaui.com or call 280-7704.
