Iknavan to discuss forest bird recovery
MAALAEA — Pacific Whale Foundation will present a free talk by Kelly Iknavan of the Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project on Thursday, Dec. 17, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The project works to develop and implement techniques to recover Maui’s endangered bird populations and restore their habitat through research, development and application of conservation techniques.
This includes monitoring forest bird populations, developing and applying recovery initiatives and managing nonnative invasive species.
They also work to educate the public about endemic forest birds and conservation issues specific to Maui.
The talk is part of Pacific Whale Foundation’s monthly Making Waves Lecture series.
The event will be held at the foundation’s Discovery Center in Maalaea next to Maui Ocean Center.
Admission is free and open to the public.
