Health Fair targets homeless community

KAHULUI — Maui Community College nursing students and the Salvation Army invite everyone to attend the 2009 Health Fair for the Homeless.
Free and open to the public, the fair will be held Friday, Nov. 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Salvation Army Drop-off Center at 45 West Kamehameha Avenue in Kahului.
Community agencies will be on hand, including the Maui District of Public Health, Family Planning Education Services, Women Helping Women, MCC dental students, Labor Ready, Maui Food Bank, Maui County Office on Aging, Mental Health Kokua, Hui No Ke Ola Pono, Maui Economic Opportunity, Family Life Center Department of Veterans Affairs/Vets Center, Child & Family Services, Maui Youth & Family Services and The Legal Aid Society.
Free health information and screenings will also be offered: blood pressure checks, glucose monitoring, diabetes awareness, flu vaccines, substance abuse awareness, domestic violence, first aid and hygiene, emergency preparedness, cardiovascular awareness and cancer awareness.
