By Staff | Oct 29, 2009

LAHAINA — With the slogan of “We’re dreaming of a Bright Christmas and we need your help to light the way,” LahainaTown Action Committee announced plans to light up the Banyan Tree again this year. The nonprofit is calling on businesses and the community to help.

“We need to raise $5,000 and are selling ‘donated’ lights at five dollars each,” said LAC President Joan McKelvey, adding that “an initial donation for 40 lights has been made to start the ball rolling.” The names of donors will appear on a plaque in Banyan Tree Park.

LAC will host a Christmas party for keiki with snow to play in and a snowman, appearance by Santa, music and entertainment in Banyan Tree Park on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5-6, with the tree lighting set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Donations may be mailed to LahainaTown Action Committee, 648 Wharf St., Lahaina, HI 96761, or delivered to the Lahaina Visitor Center in the Old Lahaina Courthouse. Call 667-9175.
