Spay and neuter clinic slated
PUUNENE — Maui Humane Society (MHS) is once again partnering with The Neuter Scooter to offer a low-cost spay and neuter clinic for pet and feral cats.
The clinic will take place Thursday, June 11, at a Central Maui location. Advance appointments are required, and more details on location and procedures will be provided when you confirm your appointment with The Neuter Scooter.
This clinic is for cats only. For pet/tame cats, the cost is $40 if paid in advance ($50 if not paid in advance). For feral cats, the fee is $20, and specific instructions for humane trapping, care and evaluation will be provided when your appointment is confirmed.
The Neuter Scooter is a Mainland-based company that provides mobile spay/neuter clinics across the nation. Last year, The Neuter Scooter conducted several clinics on Maui, sterilizing several hundred cats age six weeks and older. The Maui Humane Society asks all cat owners to help address the cat overpopulation on our island by having their cats spayed and neutered.
For more information, or to schedule an appointment, visit The Neuter Scooter’s website at www.neuterscooter.com or call (toll-free) 1-866-662-5838.
In addition to this clinic, MHS offers ongoing discounted spay/neuter programs for both dogs and cats. For more information, call 877-3616.
MHS also reminds the community that June is Adopt-a-Cat Month, and “kitten season” is now in full swing. The MHS shelter is bursting with many adorable kittens and cats of all ages waiting for adoption.
Help MHS save lives by adopting a cat from the shelter. Adopt two cats in June and pay just one adoption fee! Hours for animal visitation are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays. Visit www.MauiHumaneSociety.org for information.
