Holy Ghost Feast slated
KULA — The 2009 Holy Ghost Feast will be held Saturday, May 30, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, May 31, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at historic Holy Ghost Mission at 4300 Lower Kula Road (across from Kula Community Center).
The event will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday with blessing of the booths by Father Eric Castro, pastor. At 5 p.m., a Vigil Mass of Pentecost will be held, followed by an auction from 6 to 9 p.m.
Saturday’s entertainment slate includes: 10 a.m., Jarred Roback; 11:15 a.m., St. Theresa Church Tongan Choir; 12:30 p.m., GameKids; and 1:45 p.m., Merv Oana.
After mass at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, the Feast opens at 10:30 a.m., featuring an auction at 11 a.m., free feast (laulau, poi and sweet potato meal) at 11:30 a.m. and livestock auction at 2:30 p.m.
Throughout the Holy Ghost Feast, enjoy games, Sandi Candy, a bouncing castle for children and Holy Ghost Church’s Portuguese bread and laulau. Shop for baked goods, jams and jellies, plants and fresh flowers, and crafts.
Food booths will offer chili and rice, chow fun, cotton candy, hamburgers, ice cream, malassadas, nachos, Portuguese soup, teriyaki beef and chicken, and smoothies, soda and water.
