Hua Momona Foundation announces new executive director

By Staff | Sep 16, 2022

KAPALUA — The Hua Momona Foundation board recently announced that Shonnan Kozuch will serve as executive director.

The foundation is an established 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is affiliated with Hua Momona Farms LLC in Kapalua.

The foundation has a mission to provide food to those with food insecurity on Maui and to introduce youth to sustainable agriculture techniques relating to the growing and production of food.

The foundation has distributed over 20 tons of free food since 2020. In that timeframe, the foundation has provided food every week.

“The foundation and the community are lucky to have Shonnan take the lead for the next phase of the foundation, as food insecurity continues to be a big social issue on Maui,” said Gary Grube, foundation board member and owner of Hua Momona Farms.

“She has a deep affinity with the Hawaiian culture and community through her Hawaiian family members and decades of community interaction. She has a successful track record founding, running, fund raising and supporting various non-profits, including those serving dads of children with special needs and animal rescues… Her life-journey has uniquely qualified her for this key role. We look forward to her certain success.”

Look for future announcements about foundation fundraising through very special farm-to-table dinners at the farm as well as special food distribution events in the community.
