Seven Maui Rotary Clubs recognize island health heroes

By Staff | Dec 17, 2021

This recognition story board from the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset featured some of the 125 thank you notes written by third grade students at Princess Nahienaena Elementary School.

The Rotary Clubs of Kahului, Kihei Wailea, Lahaina, Lahaina Sunrise, Lahaina Sunset, Upcountry and Wailuku joined together to show appreciation to the health heroes at Maui Memorial Medical Center.

Beginning the first week in October, each club purchased $200 worth of individually wrapped snacks and delivered them to Angelina Pacheco, development assistant for the Maui Health Foundation.

Pacheco and her staff then selected different departments within the medical center to share the treats and snacks.

Some of the clubs also included thank you cards from local elementary school students and creative posters of appreciation. This initiative is part of the Rotary Gives Thanks with Aloha activities that were orchestrated by the 52 Rotary Clubs in the State of Hawaii.

Rotary District 5,000 Governor Sandy Matsui offered special thanks to the Maui Rotary Clubs for “stepping into action with enthusiasm and determination to adopt Maui Memorial health heroes.

These seven clubs were the first to quickly launch this recognition plan, which was then replicated by other Rotary Clubs throughout our state.”
