Take a memorable farm tour with George Kahumoku Jr.
KAHAKULOA — George Kahumoku Jr., known as the host of Maui’s Grammy Award-winning Slack Key Show-Masters of Hawaiian Music, has been busy farming during the pandemic.
He is opening his farm to tours every Saturday for a four-hour event suitable for families and limited to six participants per tour.
His scenic three-acre farm features Native Hawaiian food plants and some livestock, including sheep and lambs, miniature horses and chickens.
George will walk participants around the farm, introducing them to the “canoe plants” and farming by the traditional Hawaiian methods using the moon calendar.
Guests will participate in some light planting and harvesting as well as a lunch prepared by George with their harvested vegetables, followed by a sing-along.
Tickets can be purchased at https://calendly.com/kahumokufarmtours or call (808) 669-3858 (press option 4).
All proceeds go toward sustaining the farm and perpetuating Hawaiian farming and cultural values.
