Maui Ku‘ia Estate Chocolate promotes Meghan Ramos to fulfillment team manager
LAHAINA — Dr. Gunars Valkirs, CEO of Maui Ku’ia Estate Chocolate Inc., last week announced the promotion of Meghan Ramos to fulfillment team manager.
Her main focus is helping to ensure that all production is maintained in order to process orders without delay.
Depending on each day’s workload, Ramos and her “all-around fabulous” team members — U’ilani Kapu and Danielle Sulliban — help to package chocolate into all of its forms to meet the highest standards of customer satisfaction.
Ramos knows what it takes to have a strong team: every member needs to have a positive attitude, a willingness to pitch in, an eagerness to succeed, a drive to learn and grow, and a passion for the goal!
A former varsity lacrosse player and sponsored indoor soccer player at Linfield College in Oregon, this Maui girl has found her ideal niche here at Maui Ku’ia Estate Chocolate.
Along with her coworkers, she is passionate about the goal: to give back to the community while providing the highest quality chocolate.
“Meghan is a fantastic part of our Chocolate Kuleana team,” Valkirs said.
“With her management skills and her sparkling, genuine, helpful personality, she truly connects with both customers and coworkers.”
After earning her Bachelor of Arts in History in Oregon, Ramos returned to her Maui roots. In fact, she now lives on the family property in Kaua’ula Valley in the same house where she grew up.
Most of her siblings and their families also live on the property, and she enjoys being surrounded by ‘ohana.
Ramos plays goalkeeper in an adult soccer league, and her sister plays sweeper right in front of her.
“I have learned so many new things working at Maui Ku’ia, and it’s not just limited to the Fulfillment Department — I love the cross training in other departments as well,” Ramos said.
“In December, when the fulfillment team was super busy with all the Christmas orders, everyone else jumped in to help. It’s always a team effort.”
Her diverse background includes handling administrative duties for Management Consultants of Hawaii, working in the busy food service industry as a server at Leilani’s on the Beach and teaching at Holy Innocents Preschool. But the job title of which she is most proud is that of mom to her eight-year-old son Damon, a student at Kula Kaiapuni o Nahienaena (Hawaiian Immersion). She loves watching him play soccer, paddle canoe and perform theater and capoeira.
From her childhood off the grid in Kaua’ula Valley, to growing her skills on the Mainland, to now building her career back home in Lahaina, Meghan is proud to be serving the community as part of the Ku’ia team.
“It’s great to be able to share about our company and to make new connections all over the island,” Ramos said. “And yes, our chocolate is amazing!”
Maui Ku’ia Estate Chocolate is located at 78 Ulupono St. in Lahaina. Hours are Monday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
