May Day moment with drive-through meals for associates at The Westin Maui Resort & Spa

By Staff | May 14, 2020

While the drive up to pick-up meals was quick, it was a special occasion for employees to connect.

KAANAPALI – Unlike traditions in past years – where May Day (also known as Lei Day) was celebrated with hotel guests and associates through festivities such as lei making, a lei po’o making contest and even a Longest Lei Exchange – The Westin Maui Resort & Spa prepared and shared a traditional meal with associates the day prior, April 30, 2020.

To help employees during these extraordinary circumstances and show sincere appreciation for The Westin Maui ‘Ohana, 800 meals of kalua pork and cabbage with rice for a family of four were provided through a drive-by pick-up at the resort’s main entrance.

“This May Day, we are sharing our aloha through a traditional meal for our associates, who are the soul of our resort. The simple but meaningful meal allows us to show our thankfulness and let our associates know that they continue to remain in our hearts, and we look forward to the day when we can welcome them back,” said resort General Manager Gregg Lundberg.

“We miss each and every associate, who have often gone above and beyond in sharing their passion – whether at work, community events or family and friends. We would like to take this moment to say mahalo nui loa, how much we appreciate them and think of them,” added Lundberg.
