Team Vacation-Maui, a leading vacation condo rental sales and management team, has pledged more than $100,000 in free short-term accommodations to heroes in the front-line fight against COVID-19.

Operation Maui Safe Haven offers police officers, firefighters, Emergency Medical Technicians and medical personnel short-term accommodations to reduce risk to vulnerable family members.

“Some of our first responders and medical personnel are faced with a terrible choice – sleeping in their garages and other less than desirable accommodations, or risking exposing high-risk family members in their homes,” said Realtor Kevin Spaise, director of the program.

Vacation-Maui is part of Keller Williams Realty Maui, the island’s largest real estate brokerage.

The program joins participating Mainland condo owners with Maui front-line guardians, offering fully equipped vacation condos as a safe alternative to exposing family members, or for well-deserved and badly needed rest and quiet.

The application process is brief, and processing is quick.

Condos include all bedding and linens, fully functioning kitchens, cable and Internet, and washers and dryers.

Accommodations are available for up to 14 nights, with the possibility of extending depending on the circumstances.

“Getting a break from all this can make a big difference to our first responders and front-line fighters,” Spaise said.

“It’s a great way for our Mainland owners to show the island aloha and for us to show our local heroes appreciation for the sacrifices they’re making.”

Vacation-Maui is working with the HI Covid Healthcare Workers Task Force in implementing the program.
