Cliff Alakai, administrator for Maui Medical Group, said, “The ongoing safety of our patients, staff and community remains our priority. We are screening all patients entering all our facilities in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Hawaii Department of Health Guidelines. Patients answering yes to any questions or desiring to be tested for COVID-19 are sent to our Triage/Testing Center on the first floor of our Wailuku Clinic.”

Since March 12, over 800 people have visited the Triage/Testing Center, resulting in 17 patients testing positive for COVID-19.

The center’s hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is a walk-in clinic; no appointment is required. Test kits for the COVID-19 virus are subject to availability.

“Maui Medical Group recognizes that many people have concerns and questions about symptoms and risk of contracting COVID-19,” said Alakai.

“We are taking the risk of this COVID-19 pandemic seriously and are implementing all necessary measures to keep our patients, employees and community safe. We appreciate everyone’s patience during this time.”

Alakai added, “In addition to traditional patient visits, Maui Medical Group now offers telehealth visits. Telehealth visits allows healthcare practitioners to meet with their patients remotely, by video or telephone, in the safety of the patient’s home.”
