Ka Lima O Maui to hold eighth annual Job Fair for persons with disabilities
WAILUKU – Ka Lima O Maui, a nonprofit organization that specializes in helping adults with disabilities with job skills training and employment services, will hold its eighth annual Job Fair on Friday, Oct. 18, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Binhi at Ani Filipino Community Center on Onehee Avenue (across from Maui Waena School) in Kahului.
The job fair is open to all persons, many of whom will be entering the workforce for the first time.
There is no cost to attend and no cost to businesses to have a table.
Employers planning to participate this year include Aloha Independent Living; Andaz/Hyatt Regency Maui; Blue Hawaiian Helicopters; Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.; Burger King; Employers Options; Enterprise/Alamo; Gate Gourmet; Goodwill; Grand Wailea; Hawaiian Airlines; HI Employment; Hawaii Petroleum; Hilton; Job Corps; Ka Lima O Maui; Kaiser Permanente; MEO; Maui Electric Co.; Ritz-Carlton; Safeway; Sears; Securitas; Sheraton; The Home Depot; TJ Maxx; Wailea Beach Marriott: and Westin Maui Resort & Spa.
The job fair is held in honor of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), an annual awareness campaign that takes place each October.
The purpose of NDEAM is to educate the public about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities.
This year’s theme is “The Right Talent, Right Now.”
Ka Lima O Maui has been “Enhancing Lives through Self-Reliance” since 1955 by providing a variety of different services, such as Grounds and Custodial Services, Internship and Job Placement Programs and the Medicaid Waiver Program.
