Molokai and Lanai kick off 41st annual Charity Walks?

WAILUKU – Molokai and Lanai residents gathered for their Charity Walks on Saturday, May 4 raising a total of $85,525 from both islands.
The events, sponsored by the Maui Hotel & Lodging Association, were the kick off to the 41st annual Charity Walk, a fundraiser that will take place later in the month on Maui, Kauai, the Big Island and Oahu.
The Maui event on May 11 drew thousands of walkers.
Last year, Maui County raised $1,422,535, benefitting 100 non-profits in Maui County.
The Molokai Charity Walk began and ended at Hotel Molokai, where 104 participants were treated to a festive program and door prizes.

The ?Lanai event raised $62,214.
The event raised $23,311 and recognized Molokai High and Middle School as the top nonprofit fundraiser, bringing in $8,200.
The Lanai Charity Walk began and ended at the Lanai Senior Center with 75 walkers.
The event raised $62,214. The non-profit organization raising the most funds this year was Lanai Cat Sanctuary with $37,510.
“The Maui Hotel & Lodging Association is proud to host events on Molokai and Lanai, where every cent raised will stay on the island to benefit the local community,” said Lisa Paulson, Executive Director of the Maui Hotel & Lodging Association.
“The Charity Walk represents the visitor industry’s commitment to giving back, and we are pleased to support our Molokai and Lanai non-profits.”
