Score some neat finds at Mary Go-Round Clothing Company. Owner Mary Grogan said customers enjoy cleaning their closets and shopping for new items that bring joy.

LAHAINA – Mary Go-Round Clothing Company, a new second-hand store, just opened its doors six weeks ago at West Maui Center.

Shop for second-hand clothing and accessories, and buy and sell quality fashions. There are affordable treasures for both men and women.

According to owner Mary Grogan, the response from the community has been strong.

Before starting a family, Grogan worked in a successful second-hand clothing store in Lahaina. The store closed its doors and became an online business.

As one of the general managers of the store, Grogan became friends with her customers and recognized the community’s need for an affordable place to shop and recycle clothes.

Pursuing her lifelong dream of becoming a small business entrepreneur, she traveled around the island (and world) in search of unique, diverse inventory filled with quality designer brand clothing items and accessories.

“My idea was to create a place where both men and women of all sizes can come in and find something perfect for them,” she explained.

“We take in the finest and pay up front, or offer store credit, in order to maintain a constant inventory.”

In the four years it took for this business to bloom, she quickly found out it was not going to be an easy task. With the inconsistent economy, planning her wedding with now-husband Kekoa Lansford and becoming new parents, it took up to three years for things to start blossoming.

Her perseverance and family support helped shape this new store, along with the community and friends.

The local business was able to make almost everything from recycled materials. Grogan said Mary Go-Round Clothing Company is part of the movement to decrease the ever-growing carbon footprint of mankind.

Hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Buying hours are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for women’s clothes, and Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for men’s clothing.
