MEO’s National Farmworkers Jobs Program looking for applicants

WAILUKU – Maui Economic Opportunity Inc.’s National Farmworkers Jobs Program (NFJP) seeks applicants.

NFJP is a statewide, federally funded employment and training program for low-income individuals who have worked as or are dependents of farm workers. To qualify, you must have done agricultural work within the past two years or are the dependent of someone who has (taro, coffee, fruits, flowers, spices/herbs, ranch work, etc.), and your primary source of income was earned in agricultural work.

The NFJP program can help you start a new career, get your GED, earn a commercial driver’s license, or assist with certified nursing assistant training, on the job training and career advancement.

The program consists of comprehensive case management, individualized career planning and social and support services. Applicants must be at or below the 100 percent federal poverty guidelines (family of four annual income of $28,870, for example).

Applications are being accepted on a continuous rolling basis. This program is 100 percent funded by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration. For more information, contact Gerry Lum at (808) 243-4350.
