Maui Hotel & Lodging Association PAC endorses General Election candidates
WAILUKU – The Board of Directors and Political Action Committee of the Maui Hotel & Lodging Association recently announced their endorsements for state and county candidates in the 2018 General Election.
The following endorsement slate includes candidates who were supported in the Primary Election as well as those that have been vetted for the current election:
Governor: David Ige;
Lt. Governor: Josh Green;
State Senate District 6: Roz Baker;
State House District 9: Justin Woodson;
State House District 10: Angus McKelvey;
State House District 13: Lynn DeCoite;
Maui Mayor: Michael Victorino;
Maui County Council: East Maui – Claire Carroll; West Maui – Rick Nava; Wailuku-Waihee-Waikapu – Alice Lee; Kahului – Alan Arakawa; South Maui – Kelly King; Makawao-Haiku-Paia – Mike Molina; Upcountry – Yuki Lei Sugimura; Lanai – Riki Hokama; and Molokai – Stacy Helm Crivello.
“The Maui Hotel & Lodging Association is proud to support candidates who we feel would best represent our industry and employees at the state and county levels,” said Lisa Paulson, executive director.
“As tourism is the economic driver for Maui County, it is critical that we have elected officials who understand the importance of supporting the industry that directly provides jobs for nearly 40 percent of Maui residents and brings in over $4.7 billion in spending to Maui’s economy.”
The Maui Hotel & Lodging Association is comprised of hotels, timeshares, resort condominiums and allied businesses. Collectively, MHLA members employ over 25,000 Maui residents.
MHLA is a nonprofit organization founded in 1987 to advocate for the visitor industry. MHLA represents Maui County’s visitor industry on policymaking and industry-related issues on the county and state government levels and serves as the industry’s liaison to the general public.
