Bui’s Island Gifts back at The Wharf
LAHAINA – Bui’s Island Gifts has re-joined The Wharf Cinema Center’s family of shops and restaurants.
Owner Reapi Kaina is originally from Fiji and decided to move to Maui in 1990 after vacationing here and falling in love with the islands.
She joined The Wharf family of shops in 2003 for three years, then left to care for her twin boys.
Her love and passion for handmade Polynesian artwork is what made her want to re-open up her own shop, so she can share the beautiful art with others.
Kaina was one of the crafters under the Banyan Tree for over 15 years. You could also find her at different craft shows here on the West Side.
Bui’s offers a variety of handmade Hawaiian and Polynesian artwork, from tapa cloths, lauhala bags and baskets to picture frames, Christmas ornaments and Hawaiian fragrant crystals.
All the artwork she carries is designed and made by local artists, and it’s created with distinctive materials from the island. Her tapa cloths are all handmade in Fiji exclusively for her.
Bui’s Island Gifts, located on the mid-level of The Wharf at 658 Front St., is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. For information, call 661-8748.
