Kapalua Golf’s Plantation Course Golf Shop undergoing renovation
KAPALUA – Kapalua Golf’s award-winning Plantation Course Golf Shop is currently undergoing an extensive renovation project.
The project is expected to be completed by September 2018 and is being overseen by Troon’s Director of Retail Operations Kristen Goulet, Area Retail Manager Felecia West and Troon’s Design Services Department.
While the golf shop is closed for renovations, a temporary golf shop is located downstairs next to the locker rooms.
Annually recognized as a Platinum Award winner and one of the top golf shops in the world by the Association of Golf Merchandisers, Kapalua’s Plantation Golf Shop sees more than 100,000 yearly guests.
The golf shop renovation is focusing on capacity and showcasing products in a fresh, new light within the same footprint. The central counter and overhead lighting fixture have been removed to open up floor space and to show off the dramatic 30-foot tall, wood-planked pavilion ceiling.
Finishes are being updated with a “plantation modern vibe” with clean lines, exotic woods, brass, stone, painted white trims and watery-blue grass cloth details.
An expansive high-top bar area has been added to the northwest corner of the shop, giving guests a place to belly-up and enjoy views of the 18th hole, the Pacific Ocean and the nearby islands of Molokai and Lanai. Binoculars and iPads will be available for guests to use while in the high-top bar area.
Merchandise, featuring Kapalua’s iconic butterfly logo, will continue to include an assortment of unique luxury resort gifts and apparel as well as local artisan and Maui-made products.
“We are excited to unveil our new and improved golf shop to guests this September,” said Alex Nakajima, general manager, Kapalua Golf & Tennis.
“All of our enhancements are geared toward improving the overall golf experience for our guests who visit us from around the world.”
In March, Kapalua Golf announced a multi-million dollar enhancement project to its Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw-designed Plantation Course. On-course work is expected to begin in February of 2019 and be completed in November 2019.
Home of the PGA Tour’s Sentry Tournament of Champions, the course enhancement project is aimed at refining and revitalizing the 27-year-old golf course. For more information on Kapalua Golf, visit www.GolfAtKapalua.com or call 1-877-KAPALUA.
