Maui Wedding Association elects new board of directors
WAIKAPU – The Maui Wedding Association announced the election of seven members to its board of directors for the 2018-19 term.
The election took place during MWA’s annual meeting on June 26 and was hosted by an association member, The King Kamehameha Golf Club & Kahili Golf Course.
Janet Inda, catering and event manager at The King Kamehameha Golf Club & Kahili Golf Course, will serve as president for the upcoming term.
“I am honored to work with such great industry professionals in the Maui Wedding Association. I look forward to working with the new board to accomplish the goals of the association, which is to promote and connect Maui wedding professionals,” said Inda.
Genevieve Ruvald, sales specialist at Hawaiian Style Event Rentals Maui, was elected vice president; Tambara Garrick, Hawaii regional sales manager for Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. and Mai Tai Bar, will continue her board service as treasurer; and Anita Sweet of Gemini Sailing Charters will serve as secretary.
Directors include Tad Craig of Tad Craig Photography; Tori Takayesu Hamilton, owner of Maui Cakes; and Denise Black, managing partner of Lahaina Loft.
The Maui Wedding Association produces The Maui Wedding Planner, an award-winning magazine with an annual circulation of 17,500, and produces the Maui Wedding Expo, Maui’s only wedding event of its kind.
The 2018 Maui Wedding Expo, which will be the association’s 23rd annual, will be held on Sept. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at King Kamehameha Golf Club.
The mission of the Maui Wedding Association is to bring together businesses to promote the advancement of the Maui wedding industry, to offer opportunities for professional growth through education and the sharing of ideas, and to foster a caring attitude and aloha spirit among members in dealings with the community, with clients and with each other.
