Westin Maui associates and guests jog along the Kaanapali Beachwalk on Global Running Day.

KAANAPALI – Guests and associates at The Westin Maui Resort & Spa came together on June 6 to work out and give back as part of Global Running Day celebrations on Maui.

Led by the resort’s runWestin concierge, Brad Kukral, the participants completed a 5K run along the scenic trail overlooking pristine Kaanapali Beach.

With Westin Hotels & Resorts’ announcement of a global collaboration with Charity Miles, guests, associates and locals can earn one U.S. dollar per mile for their preferred charity by working out at any Westin hotel around the world and using the Charity Miles app from now until end of August 2018.

Charity Miles is a socially-driven company that allows individuals to earn money for their preferred charity while working out.

“It is a cool and neat idea for our guests to be able to support their favorite charity when they stay with us,” said Kukral, who was most recently appointed Westin Maui’s very first runWestin concierge.

Currently, there are 40 world-class charities listed under Charity Miles that include impactful contributions for health, children, animals, the environment, education, veterans and more.

In May 2018, Kukral participated in two back-to-back marathons in Asia, including the Great Wall Marathon, widely considered one of the world’s most challenging marathons on the iconic Great Wall of China.

He then traveled to Tibet to take on the Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon, an international high-altitude adventure sports event held from Mt. Everest Base Camp, emerging as the champion.

Last year, he participated in Maui Marathon’s inaugural full marathon relay, where his team earned an exciting win.

At The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Kukral will continue to offer a weekly run every Wednesday morning at 6:30 a.m. for resort guests keen to explore the scenic setting. The run is open to all levels.
