Kahoma Village holds residential workforce housing lottery event
LAHAINA – Seventy-five excited attendees (applicants and families) were present for the Kahoma Village residential workforce housing lottery event on Jan. 26 at the Kahoma Village Sales Office.
Linda Munsell, assistant housing administrator from the County of Maui, drew the names for each category.
There were three lotteries, for residents earning 80-100 percent of the area median income (75 selected), 101-120 percent AMI (49 selected) and 121-140 percent AMI (23 selected). ?
Kahoma Village is still accepting Residential Workforce Housing applicants.

Accepted applicants will be added to the appropriate Residential Workforce Housing list(s). ?
For the first release of homes, the earliest selectees from the three lottery lists will have the opportunity to choose one of 17 Villas townhomes. ?
Kahoma Village will reach out to the list members from each AMI category, via e-mail or phone, for the first release of homes and later releases.
Marina Zautner, production manager at Prime Lending, said, “We’re so excited for the local community and to provide them with affordable housing.
“It was so great to see them jumping up and down.” ?
Griffiths of Pacific Island Realty LLC commented, “Everyone who applied and got selected today has the opportunity to get a house, and that’s something I’m truly happy about.”
Norman Russell Jr. was among the lottery applicants selected. He and wife Cambria Russell were drawn first in the overall event (80-100 percent AMI category). ?
“This means everything to us. I’m speechless,” he said. ?
Mina Moghadam’s son danced excitedly after they were selected. ?
“We’re so excited; this is a dream come true,” she said.
Nathan Ugale was also selected. “We can’t wait to make our house a home,” he said.
