Restaurants supporting Grow Some Good in September
KIHEI – Grow Some Good is partnering with restaurants this entire month of September to raise funds for its school gardens.
The nonprofit organization works with local schools in creating hands-on, outdoor learning experiences connecting students to food sources and inspiring better nutrition choices.
Each time guests order any of the following salads or appetizer at the restaurants, $1 will be donated to Grow Some Good: Greek Salad at Manoli’s Pizza Company; Maui Wowie Salad at Nick’s Fishmarket inside the Fairmont Kea Lani; Caprese Salad at Sarento’s on the Beach, located on Keawakapu Beach; and Black-n-Blue Ahi appetizer at Son’z Steakhouse inside the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa.
The fundraiser will continue to support school gardens at Kamali’i Elementary, Kihei Elementary, Lahaina Intermediate, Kihei Charter, Lokelani Intermediate, Maui Preparatory Academy, Pomaika’i Elementary, Princess Nahi’ena’ena Elementary, Pu’u Kukui Elementary, Wailuku Elementary and Waihe’e Elementary.
With nine years of experience in growing school gardens, Grow Some Good’s school programs are designed to grow more than just gardens; they grow healthier and more sustainable communities by creating affordable access to local produce and educating students, their families and the greater community on practices that improve nutrition, health and fitness. Its mission is to “cultivate a healthy community by strengthening local agriculture and improving access to nutritious, affordable food.”
