LAHAINA – Maui residents are invited to attend a “Friend-Raiser” hosted by the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset on Tuesday, July 18, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Royal Lahaina Resort in Kaanapali.
Members of the Lahaina Sunset Rotary Club will discuss the club’s community service projects, including the monthly Third Saturday Recycling program at Lahaina Cannery Mall now entering its third year.
The club will provide complimentary pupus, and there will be a no-host bar with happy hour drink prices until 6 p.m.
The meeting will be held in the Royal Ocean Terrace. Parking is free for attendees.
The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset, West Maui’s evening Rotary Club, is beginning its fourth year of service to the West Maui community.
The club has been named Rotary’s Small Club of the Year in the Hawaiian Islands for the past two years.
“We’re proud of our service to this community,” said Mariko Higashi, co-president-elect of the Lahaina Sunset Rotary Club. “And there is so much more we want to do. Our goal with this ‘Friend-Raiser’ is to meet some new friends – folks who may be willing to join us in tackling big things here in West Maui.”
In addition to the Third Saturday Recycling event, the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset has been active in other West Maui environmental programs, such as community and beach cleanups, and in projects to benefit West Maui elementary and high school students, the Maui Food Bank, Women Helping Women and the homeless in West Maui.
“We know that Maui residents are looking for ways to give back to this community,” said club President Joanne Laird. “Rotary provides the perfect avenue to do this. In Rotary, we believe many hands make light work. As Rotarians, we gladly volunteer our time, and we always get back more than we give.”
