KAPALUA – Taverna Maui and Maui Brewing Company recently donated a total of $2,300 to the University of Hawaii Maui College’s Culinary Arts Program.

Funds generated from ticket sales for Taverna’s First Anniversary Bash, held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, will provide financial aid for students in need.

Chris Kaiwi, owner of the Kapalua bar and restaurant, explained why the UHMC program is close to Taverna’s heart: “We are proud to provide young, up-and-coming individuals with an opportunity to prosper in the local culinary scene, and we have chosen to support this cause because the students are the future of our hospitality industry here on Maui.

“Our first anniversary event was a huge success with 225 guests enjoying Chef Roger Stettler’s Italian Feast, and we were very appreciative to have Maui Brewing Company partner with this donation, along with Southern Glazer Wine & Spirits. Taverna will always be committed to being a part of our local community, and we will continue to support events like this in the months and years to come.”
