West Maui Soroptimists to hold fundraiser at April town party

By Staff | Mar 30, 2017

LAHAINA – Soroptimist International of West Maui (SIWM) is gearing up for its annual fundraiser at the April Lahaina Second Friday Town Party on April 14 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Each year, the club works with Maui merchants to put together a large silent auction to raise money for keiki and scholarship programs for West Maui women and children. Items up for bid will include jewelry, artwork and gift certificates to local restaurants, hotels, activities and shows.

The SIWM Silent Auction is part of the LahainaTown Classic Car Show and Rock and Roll Party that happens once a year. The free event will display classic cars on Front Street (between Prison and Dickenson streets) and the Banyan Tree. The silent auction will be held across the street at Campbell Park.

Soroptimist President Julie Meszaros said, “This free event is great for our visitors and our locals. It’s an excellent time to pick up special items and gift cards for great prices – and for a great cause. We have been fortunate to be able to host this event for many years, primarily due to the generosity of our wonderful Maui merchants.”

Soroptimist International of West Maui is part of a global volunteer organization working to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.
