Camp RYLA graduates to share experiences with Rotary Clubs
LAHAINA – In mid-February, 74 Maui County students from nine Maui County high schools gathered together at Camp Keanae to experience the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Camp program (RYLA).
Offered worldwide, this program was sponsored by the nine Maui County Rotary Clubs.
Among the students participating were 15 from Lahainaluna High School, seven from Lanai High and nine from Molokai High.
The purpose of the camp was to give the students an opportunity to participate in quality leadership training experiences and activities.
These activities were led by 24 student facilitators, who helped guide the campers in understanding the principles of effective leadership.
Between March 21 and April 4, a number of the 24 students who served as facilitators and campers will be making presentations at their sponsoring Rotary Club meetings.
For the three West Side Rotary Clubs, the presenters will be students who participated from Lahainaluna High School.
The dates for the presentations are: Tuesday, March 21, at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise at 7 a.m. at the Pioneer Inn’s Snug Harbor; Thursday, March 23, at the Rotary Club of Lahaina at noon at the Royal Lahaina Resort’s Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant; and Tuesday, April 4, at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset at 5:30 p.m. at the Royal Lahaina Resort’s Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant.
