Trilogy Excursions celebrates the arrival of its newest sailing catamaran

By Staff | Jan 5, 2017

The 65-foot catamaran was built in St. Croix and sailed over 6,000 nautical miles to Maui.

LAHAINA – Trilogy Excursions, Maui’s oldest sailing catamaran boat tour company, welcomed home the captains aboard its newest vessel, TRILOGY III, on Christmas Eve.

Built by Gold Coast Yachts in St. Croix, TRILOGY III set sail on Nov. 18. The seasoned captains spent 41 days at sea, traversing the Panama Canal and stopping to avoid hurricane conditions before making the Pacific crossing to Maui.

Friends and family waited anxiously at Lahaina Harbor to welcome their loved ones home in time for Christmas.

The boat was christened on Christmas Eve at Lahaina Harbor. TRILOGY III will go into operation at the beginning of 2017 and will depart off of Kaanapali Beach.

“We have been quite impressed with the speed of the build and delivery of TRILOGY III. Trilogy is looking forward to welcoming guests aboard to share premiere sailing ocean experiences with the ho’okipa we are known for,” said Capt. Gabe Lucy, director of operations for Trilogy Excursions.

Among the team bringing home the vessel were two Hawaii native captains.

Lanai born Kamalani Ranis started working with Trilogy as a beach attendant on Lanai. Capt. Kama shares his Hawaiiana view with Trilogy guests on Maui visiting Molokini Crater daily.

Lahaina native Capt. Seth Forsyth made his first delivery for Trilogy when he was only 12 years old from Washington State to Hawaii. He now makes daily tours for Trilogy departing Lahaina.
