Maui Humane Society now offers extended hours

PUUNENE – Maui Humane Society now offers extended operating hours Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and will be closed to the public on Sunday.

MHS CEO Jerleen Bryant said, “We strive to give the best service possible to the animals and the people of Maui. Our current operating hours are very limiting for people who work a traditional nine to five job; therefore, we felt it was necessary to extend our hours. Without additional funding, the only way to extend our hours Monday to Saturday is to close the shelter to the public on Sundays.”

As with holidays, there will still be limited staff working on Sundays to care for the animals and to handle emergency situations as needed. Also, the MHS 24-Hour Animal Response Hotline is still available. If you have an injured/stray animal emergency, call (808) 877-3680, extension 211.

For questions regarding the new hours, or for any additional information, call (808) 877-3680, extension 3, or go to www.mauihumanesociety.org or the MHS Facebook page.

Maui Humane Society is located at 1350 Mehameha Loop in Puunene, right off Mokulele Highway and conveniently located between Kahului and Kihei/Wailea.

Maui Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, serving the community for over 60 years. It is Maui’s only open admission shelter.

Its mission is to protect and serve the lives of Maui’s animals, accepting all in need, educating the community and inspiring respect and compassion toward all animals.
