Award-winning author Jill Engledow to speak at Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset meeting
LAHAINA – On Tuesday, Jan. 3, the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset invites the public to a talk by writer Jill Engledow, who will discuss her latest book, “The Story of Lahaina.”
Engledow is an award-winning journalist and author who spent 18 years working at The Maui News. Her work has chronicled Maui life for over 30 years.
Her books about the history of Maui include: “Haleakala: A History of the Maui Mountain,” “Exploring Historic Upcountry,” “The Spirit Lives On: A History of Old Maui High at Hamakuapoko,” “The Maui News: 100 Years as Maui’s Newspaper,” and “Sugarcane Days: Remembering Maui’s Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company,” published in 2016.
She has also published several collaborations with other writers, and her freelance work has appeared in Maui No Ka Oi magazine.
The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset’s community speaker series takes place during club meetings, which are held on the first, third and fifth Tuesday of the month at the Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant, Royal Lahaina Resort, Kaanapali, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
