WAILUKU – Maui Academy of Performing Arts (MAPA) recently announced the purchase of the Main Street Promenade Properties in Wailuku from Robert and Lisa Joslin.

The 35,622-square-foot property includes two buildings located at 2020 and 2050 Main St.

MAPA is a nonprofit organization serving 25,000 people annually through its performing arts programs. MAPA Executive & Artistic Director David C. Johnston said, “MAPA is excited to realize the next steps in a long-held dream of establishing our educational and artistic home. The Promenade property is the next building block for conceptualizing and creating a campus to accommodate the full range of MAPA’s educational and artistic needs.”

Along with MAPA’s current facility at 2027 Main St., the recently acquired property will eventually house a theatre, rehearsal studios, classrooms, production spaces for costume and scene shops, and administrative offices. The property purchase was made possible through a loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Rural Development.
